Rocky River, Ohio was founded in 1805 as a part of Rockport Township. In 1891, Rocky River became a hamlet and in 1903, it was incorporated as a village. Reincorporated in 1930, the village became a city.
The Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the history of this Cleveland suburb and we invite you to join us.
2018 marks the 50 year anniversary of the Rocky River Historical Society!

Jesse Grover Bell was a cosmetics salesman in Kansas when in 1927, at age 37, he decided to move his family to Cleveland, Ohio and start his own cosmetics business. He named it after his daughter, Bonne Bell.
